Maybe you have heard this before.
“You gotta follow your passion. Do what you love, and the money will follow”
But do you think it is true?
For me, I don’t think so.
And why is that?
Let me ask you this question.
Are you doing what you love right now?
If so, are you making a living out of it?
If the answer is yes, then congratulations.
You definitely know how to turn your passion into profit.
If the answer is no, then I think you might now see the problem.
And the problem isn’t just about money. It’s also about your motivation.
Think about it.
When you only focus on your passion, chances are, you also only focus on doing things that make you comfortable.
And society makes you believe that if you get to do what you love,
you’re going to work tirelessly without needing vacations.
Well, it helps if you enjoy what you do… because you’ll more likely to work your way towards being better.
But when you do what you love, there is no guarantee that you will do the necessary work to become financially stable.
And because many people like many different things.
How do you know you have the right kind of passion?
If what you love happens to help you make a sufficient amount of money.
Then that is very fortunate and you should keep it as a source of your happiness.
How about the rest of us who aren’t that lucky but still want to follow our passion?
Now, let’s think about our families for a moment.
If we can’t pay our bills, if we can’t provide for our family or we can’t take care of our parents, then it is what we are willing to accept to do what we want?
Can we give ourselves the right to follow our passion?
I hope your answer is no and you will do whatever it takes to better the lives
and well-being of your loved ones.
And the reason for that is I also had to do the same thing.
Back when I was in college…
When I was just starting out as a student, I had to spend every waking moment working very hard day in day out to support my passion.
And did I love it? Not, not at all.
But when I finally made enough to take care of my family, I now have earned the right to follow my passion and do more of the things I love
while delegating tasks that I don’t enjoy.
Here is a thing. Even though I don’t have to work like crazy anymore,
I still work hard and let other people take care of tedious but necessary work.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to spend more time with my family, hang out with friends, and enjoy doing exercise.
So, what do you think?
What are you willing to give up to get what you truly desire?
You see everyone wants success, but no one wants to work for it.
